Product Introduction
Honeywell CC-PDIS01 is a 32-channel Digital Input Sequence of Events (DISOE) module for the Experion Series C I/O architecture. It accepts 24 VDC discrete signals and can time-tag input transitions with 1 ms resolution, making it useful when the order and timing of plant events matter. Honeywell specifies normal 20 ms process-variable scanning and a 5 ms low-latency mode.
This is more than a standard 24 VDC digital-input card. SOE recording is particularly useful for event reconstruction, trip analysis, alarm sequencing, and diagnosing equipment that changes state within a short time window. The module also provides optical galvanic isolation rated at 1500 VAC RMS or ±1500 VDC.

Application and Selection Notes
The module fits process trips, motor status monitoring, emergency events, burner systems, utilities, and DCS event analysis where timing information is important.
For a normal digital input, knowing whether a signal is ON or OFF may be enough. For SOE, the sequence matters. If several interlocks change within milliseconds, the recorded timestamps can help determine which event happened first.
Honeywell also provides open-wire detection in Normal mode, together with diagnostics intended to identify questionable input data. A detected open-wire condition can cause the associated process value to be marked invalid rather than silently passing an apparently valid signal.
Replacement Pitfalls
IOTA mismatch: Check the existing IOTA before ordering. The module is not a standalone terminal assembly.
SOE requirement: Do not substitute an ordinary 24 VDC DI module if the application depends on 1 ms event sequencing.
Input voltage: Confirm that the field signals fall within the documented 18–30 VDC range.
Timing expectations: The 1 ms figure refers to SOE resolution. It should not be interpreted as a universal 1 ms control-loop scan time.
Wiring: Photograph the existing terminal arrangement before removal. With 32 channels, one swapped pair can create a surprisingly difficult commissioning problem.
Personally, I would check the IOTA part number and whether the application actually uses SOE before approving a replacement. Those two details determine whether this is the right Series C input module.
Quality Inspection and Testing
- Inbound inspection: Verify part number, serial number, hardware revision, connectors, PCB condition, and signs of corrosion or previous repair.
- Live test: Install in a compatible Series C test environment and verify startup, diagnostics, module recognition, and input status.
- Digital input test: Apply controlled 24 VDC signals across representative channels and confirm ON/OFF detection.
- SOE test: Generate controlled signal transitions and verify event timestamp behavior against the test system.
- Electrical testing: Check isolation, grounding continuity, and applicable electrical parameters.
- Final QC: Record test results, photograph the module, use ESD protection, and package it securely.
Test reports, photographs, or test video can be supplied when available.
