Description
ABB Bailey SPCIS22 — Control I/O Module (INFI 90 / Symphony)
Product Overview
The SPCIS22 is a control input/output module used in the ABB Bailey INFI 90 and Symphony distributed control system family. It gathers field data and drives control outputs, handling two signal categories: discrete inputs from pushbuttons, limit switches, proximity and photoelectric switches, and pressure contacts; and continuous analog inputs from potentiometers, thermocouples, tachogenerators and transmitters. The module conditions these mixed signal levels and converts them into digital form for the controller, while also issuing analog and digital commands back to the process. Operating alongside a multifunction processor module and connected through the I/O expander bus to termination units, it supports continuous, high-reliability data acquisition and control on production lines and process plants where legacy Bailey hardware remains in service.

ABB Bailey SPCIS22
Key Features and Benefits
- Mixed I/O in one module, covering discrete and analog signals to reduce the number of card types held in stock.
- Signal isolation and filtering that protect the logic section from plant disturbances and prevent false triggering.
- Self-supervision diagnostics with status indicators, helping locate faults quickly and improve uptime.
- Termination-unit wiring through the I/O expander bus, which simplifies field connections and module replacement.
- Legacy-system support, keeping installed INFI 90 / Symphony lines operational without a full platform upgrade.
Related Models

Installation and Maintenance
To install, insert the module into its assigned slot in the system module mounting unit and confirm the I/O expander cable to the correct termination unit before power-up. Verify the module address and channel configuration in the controller so analog and digital points map correctly to the control logic. For maintenance, keep connectors and gold-plated contacts clean, check the self-supervision LEDs during routine inspection, and confirm signal scaling on analog channels during calibration. Because the module seats in a standard rack with termination-unit wiring, a suspect unit can be swapped with minimal disturbance, and reloading the controller configuration restores operation quickly on both active and legacy Bailey installations.
