Description
Product Overview
The A-B 1756-PA75 is an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix AC power supply designed to provide backplane power for compatible 1756 chassis. It accepts a wide 85–265 VAC input range at 47–63 Hz and delivers up to 75 W of output power at operating temperatures from 0 to 60°C. The unit provides 13 A capacity on the 5.1 VDC backplane supply and 2.8 A on the 24 VDC supply. It is installed on the left side of compatible ControlLogix chassis and is intended for Series B chassis configurations. Rockwell Automation documentation also specifies a maximum 100 VA input rating and 20 A maximum inrush current.

A-B 1756-PA75
Key Features and Benefits — 1756-PA75
- Wide-range AC input for common industrial power systems.
- 75 W maximum output capacity for ControlLogix backplane loads.
- 13 A capacity at 5.1 VDC supports high-density chassis configurations.
- Designed for direct installation on the left side of compatible 1756 chassis.
- Reinforced input-to-backplane isolation supports industrial cabinet applications.
- Compact design simplifies replacement within existing ControlLogix installations.
- Suitable for planned MRO inventory and lifecycle support of legacy systems.
Power-supply sizing should be based on the actual chassis module load rather than the 75 W nameplate rating alone. This is particularly important when the rack contains multiple high-current I/O or communication modules.

Installation and Maintenance — 1756-PA75
Before replacement, isolate the incoming AC power and follow the site’s lockout/tagout procedure. Confirm the chassis series and existing power-supply revision before installation.
Check the backplane load, terminal wiring, grounding, and mounting hardware. Inspect for overheating, loose terminals, or signs of electrical stress. Personally, I would calculate the complete chassis load before commissioning rather than assuming that any 1756 power supply is interchangeable.
Product Warranty — 1756-PA75
Warranty terms depend on supplier, condition, testing status, and purchase agreement. For used or refurbished units, request functional-test information and verify the exact series and hardware revision. The A-B 1756-PA75 should be matched to the ControlLogix chassis and calculated backplane load before installation.
